San Clemente Island goats still have an obscure past as to where they have come from originally. What we do know is that these goats were on San Clemente Island for many years, without human control. It would be assumed that they would have divided themselves into family lineages and groups.

IDGR will also be gradually posting its histories on this website and linked to the San Clemente Island Goat Foundation website, to bring a more comprehensive history of the breed. There may well be others who have great knowledge of this breed, with potentially more histories and knowledge.

For histories, please visit the San Clemente Island Goat Foundation The San Clemente Island Association was owned and operated by Leslie Edumundson. She did much work of research into the breed and bringing breeders to a knowledge of the breed. Among some of the things she was noted for were her Goat Parties. Just prior to her death, she gave her database, records and website to the owners of the current San Clemente Island Goat Foundation.

Other original and old breeders completed much historical research, as well as had numorous observations as theyraised the San Clemente Island goat in their closed herds.

Follow us and San Clemente Island Goat Foundation as you learn about the breed.
